Welcome to my website! This is a set of summaries and evaluations for the models and programs for Gifted Instruction, covered by UVa's EDIS 7250. As a disclaimer, the evaluations are my own doing, and you're absolutely welcome to chuck them right out the window. The criteria used to evaluate the models are:
-Appropriateness to the situation (community, audience, schools, etc)
-to what extent do the purposes of the model fit the needs of students, the school philosophy,
parental values and teacher characteristics?
-to what extent do the assumptions made in the model fit reality?
-Comprehensiveness
-what content modifications are provided?
-what process modifications are provided?
-what product/outcome modifications are provided?
-what learning environment modifications are provided?
-Flexibility/adaptability
-how do we make it fit?
-can it extend across disciplines?
-how easily can it be applied to different age groups?
-how adaptable is it to diverse students?
-Practicality
-what materials/services are required?
-how much would it cost?
-is there training/professional development required?
-how easy would it be to implement immediately?
-Validity
-was the model developed based on sound research?
-how much research shows that it is effective?
-is it structurally sound?
-is it defensible as qualitatively different from regular classroom instruction?
